WORLD-CLASS TRAINING
Join us and youâll start by learning the soldiering skills common to every member of the British Army, like outdoor survival and the safe handling of weapons. After this, you have a seven-week course at RAF Brize Norton to learn your trade. Youâll be supervised by experienced staff and trained to monitor transport, put movement plans into action and enforce regulations. Weâll also teach you about reserving seats, berths and stowage space.

LEARN NEW SKILLS
If you apply as a Student Nurse, youâll attend Birmingham City University full-time and be paid as a full-time soldier. The Army also offers financial support to those who have secured a place on, or have already commenced a degree in Nursing â apply for our bursary and youâll receive taxable payments. Joining as a Registered Nurse (Adult Health), youâll get great opportunities to practise in challenging and rewarding environments at home and on operations overseas. You could also qualify for a one-off payment of £20,000 if you have qualified in a specialism we need.
WORLD-CLASS TRAINING
When you join the Army youâll be trained in basic military skills â like outdoor survival and how to fire your weapon. You then undertake a Transition to Military Practice Course. Once youâre trained, weâll send you to a Joint Hospital Unit. Here, youâll get experience through a rotation programme and begin life as an Army Nurse. Youâll learn new transferable skills in your chosen speciality that will not only enhance your military career, but stand you in good stead if you later decide to return to civilian life.

Veterinary Officer

Caring for our military animals is a calling without compare. As a Veterinary Officer, youâll lead our Military Working Animal capability to keep our animals fit and healthy so they can protect and serve our forces on the ground.
Youâll go above and beyond civilian veterinary roles and do something with a bigger impact; keeping a critical line of support and defence in action. That means you wonât just be saving animals, youâll be protecting people and places by proxy. As an Officer, youâll lead the soldiers under your command, making quick decisions and helping to determine our operational success.
On top of dealing with animal health issues â the kind youâd see in civilian practice â youâll take on new challenges that only the Army can offer. This includes advising on disease controls and biosecurity to prevent the spread of infectious disease. WORLD-CLASS TRAINING
Youâll start out with 14 weeks of Basic Training, where youâll learn essential skills like weapon handling and outdoor survival. Youâll also develop your fitness, mental toughness and leadership ability. Then comes Initial Trade Training, where you learn to drive different kinds of vehicles, from cars to tanks. Youâll also learn how to fire and maintain the Challenger 2 tankâs hi-tech weapons. The qualifications you get will set you up for whatever career journey you choose, whether you stay in the Army or eventually return to civilian life.

Army Officer

You donât need a degree for many Officer roles, and specific entry requirements vary from role to role. What we look for in our Officer Cadets is leadership potential, a sense of purpose and the drive to do great things. Your Army career starts at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Youâll learn the skills you need to become an Officer â from weapons handling to outdoor survival â to what it takes to lead your team in a range of hostile situations, anywhere in the world.
Once youâve commissioned, youâll take charge of 30 soldiers. Then, youâll begin the specialist training you need to be an expert in your chosen field, whether thatâs engineering, intelligence gathering, or piloting an Apache helicopter. Youâll also take part in Adventurous Training around the world, from skiing in the Alps to white-water rafting in Colorado. All while youâre earning a starting salary of around £32,800 (after training).

Funded Degree
University isnât for everyone and most Officer roles donât require a degree. If youâve got drive, determination and the will to make an impact, thereâs a place for you here.
If youâre still interested in completing a degree, youâve the opportunity to enrol on a funded BSc Leadership and Strategic Studies at the University of Reading through the Henley Business School. Your 44 weeks at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst will contribute towards a third of your degree, which you can then complete over the next three to six years.
